Tubing on the Lower Salt River
The Outdoor Recreation Program has scheduled the following tubing trips. Price is $25 and musst be paid at the time of registration and $15 paid in cash at float house for tube and bus rides to drop off and pickup sites.

Sundays
Watch birds at EOP Join an approximately 3–hour public bird watching tour, led by docents of several bird watching organizations, at the Environmental Operations Park every Sunday. Tours are limited to 22 persons on a first-come, first-served basis. Tours leave from the Environmental Operations Park, Hwy 90 between Mile Marker 324 and 325, Sierra Vista, at 8 a.m. Admission is free; donations accepted.

See birds on the San Pedro River
All birdwatchers are welcome to join a 2–3 hour field trip onto private property to view riparian habitat, including burrowing owl roosts.
Bring water, sunscreen and wear appropriate clothing. Bird watching takes place every Monday, 8 a.m. Pull-off just west of the bridge on the north side of Hwy. 92, at Gate 10663, Palominas. Admission is free.

Attend Baby Boot Camp
Those expecting a child are invited to attend Baby Boot Camp. The free informational classes discuss a range of topics from breastfeeding, newborn safety, excreta. Well Women Walk-In Clinic
Raymond W. Bliss Army Health Center offers a Well Women Walk-In Clinic for patients assigned to RWBAHC on the first Tuesday of every month, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. in Clinic A. No appointment is needed. The clinic helps schedule mammograms, colon or cervical cancer screenings, diabetic lab checks, asthma control, annual lab tests, referrals, consults and more.

The Huachuca Hiking Club meets the second Tuesday of each month, 7 p.m., Cochise County Conference Center, 4001 E. Foothills Drive, Sierra Vista, in the small conference room.

Buffalo Soldier historic sites tour set
Learn more about the Buffalo Soldiers, the all-black unit stationed on Fort Huachuca in the late 1800s through the turn of the 20th Century, by taking a tour on post.
Tours are held monthly on the third Saturday. Participants meet, depart from and return to the City of Sierra Vista’s Public Library, 2600 E. Tacoma Street. The next tour is on Saturday. Departure time is 1 p.m., and participants should arrive by 12:45 p.m. The tour fee is $15, and children 12 and under go for free. Water and snacks are provided. Home Depot Orange Honors Scholarship
The Home Depot®, the world's largest home improvement retailer, is teaming up with Military Spouse Magazine for the
very first Orange Honors Scholarship award as the education sponsor. The Home Depot will award a deserving candi-date or “Orange Honor” a significant scholarship toward the pursuit of his or her college degree.
An essay (between 750 and 1250 words in length) is to be submitted detailing how earning a college degree would have a positive impact on the candidate’s life. Entries can be submitted starting May 28, 2012 through July 3, 2012 at http://www.baseguide.com/contests/homedepotfiles/homedepotindex.html. The essay must be entirely original work and must mention what subject area the candidate is planning to study and how he or she plans on using the degree obtained. Essays will be reviewed by our selection committee.
Ten finalists will be chosen and then submitted to The Home Depot for final selec-tion of the winner. To be considered for this scholarship, candidates must be the spouse of an active duty service member or the spouse of an active Reservist. There is no restriction on the rank of the spouse. Applicants must be already enrolled in school or accepted to be enrolled by the spring semester of 2013. The winner will receive $10,000 toward tuition paid directly to their school’s financial department.
