I try not to simply copy and paste items from anywhere but the Scout from this Thursday had several announcements that I wanted to pass on in case no one saw them:
Free youth camp announced

Operation Military Kids Weekend Camp in the Pines in Prescott is open for registration for military children, 9-16. The camp takes place at YMCA Camp Sky-Y, Aug. 12 –14. Drop off children , Aug. 12, 5–7 p.m. Pick-up campers Aug. 14 between 1–2 p.m. Cost is free and includes two breakfasts, two lunches, one dinner and  a light snack on day of arrival. All materials/supplies, staff and campers are lodged in YMCA cabins.

Pre-registration is required, and space is limited. Children of deployed military have priority. To register, contact Linda Rowntree,[email protected] or  1.800.660.1385.

Library hosts reading program

A children’s summer reading program is underway at the Sierra Vista Public Library.

Register through July 7.

Children entering 1st–12th grades this fall can register at the library and pick up a reading log. Registration is required. Record your reading times and return the log to the library for free prizes

Come to the library on Thursdays at 10 a.m. during June and July to discover artists, performers, and storytellers. Seating is on a first come basis.

Visit museums for free

The Mini-Time Machine Museum of Miniatures, Tucson, announced the launch of Blue Star Museums, a partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and more than 1,300 museums across America to offer free admission to all active-duty military personnel and families through Labor Day.

Youth recreation program offered

Kid’s WORLD Summer Recreation Program takes place through July 29, Monday–Friday, 6:40 a.m.–5:45 p.m. at Bella Vista Elementary or Huachuca Mountain Elementary Schools. Cost is $85 weekly, per child.

Camp is open to children entering grades 1-7 this fall. The weekly fee includes snacks, activities, and field trips. Register at the Oscar Yrun Community Center, Ethel Berger Center, or The Cove.
