General Information

In Arizona, a homeschooled child between the ages of 6 and 16, must have an Affidavit of Intent to Homeschool on file with the local county superintendent.  Fort Huachuca is located in Cochise County and the affidavit must be filed with that office, NOT the Fort Huachuca Superintendent's Office.  A form must also be filed if you decide to stop homeschooling or if you change your address.

A note on record keeping

Recently the topic of recordkeeping has come up.  Since Arizona does not require homeschoolers to submit copies of work, transcripts, or test scores, many parents opt to not keep records at all.  As military families we must remember that because we are constantly moving, we have to prepare a little differently than our civilian counterparts.  Obviously it is your decision how much you choose to record, especially for younger children.  But, please be aware that when we move to another state, we are held to the standard of the state we currently reside in (not just our home state for residency purposes).

Also, please keep in mind that while Arizona does not require you to register your child until the age of 6, if your child was already registered in another state (regardless of age), it may be a good idea to also do so here.  This can help create a papertrail that shows you continued to provide education for the child even after moving to Arizona.
